Monster Dog

If you're sick of me talking about my dog then please come over to my house and help me finish decorating so I can talk about that.

Until then, I will talk about Oliver, aka Monster Dog.

This guy is huge.  I asked him yesterday to please stop growing.  He was going to try.
I left for a while.  A week actually.  I wondered how ginorm he would be when I got home.  A week does a lot in puppy years.  He will be 16 weeks = 3 1/2 months this Sunday.  He is 28lbs and growing like a weed.
When I picked him up I threw out my back.  J/K, but I made a grunt like I was weight lifting or something.  Cause it was hard work.

Then I wondered what the 5 foot girl looked like holding the giant dog.  Ben seems to do it with such ease.  I knew I didn't look as graceful.  This picture proves that.

Now let us all let out a sad sigh that our children dogs are growing up and remember when they were little....
I'm glad I am a crazy picture taker because it's hard to even remember him that itty bitty.
Remember what I said about ease.  Ben just holds him like it's no big deal.  Someday I will be that strong.

Some things we should remember about Oliver:
  • When Ben leaves to work he will lift Oliver up onto our bed and we will sleep until it's time to work.  Sometimes when he is ready to get up he will paw my face, but most of the time I have to drag him out of bed and bribe him with the promise of a yummy breakfast.  {puppy chow - yum}
  • Oliver loves going for walks and is learning to run.  He can run a mile straight.  I think he will be a fun running companion.
  • He loves riding in the car.  When he hears keys jingle he will jump up and stand right at your feet letting you know he is ready to go.  This breaks my heart when he can't actually go with us.   I usually will take him along on my errand running even though he can't go in any stores and then make a stop at Petsmart to check out the new toys so he can get out of the car.  I love Petsmart because I don't feel like a weirdo taking my dog with me.
  • Oliver used to sleep about 80% of the day with about an hour dedicated to being crazy wild dog and 2 walks around the block somewhere in between. Now he sleeps only about 50% of the day with about two hours dedicated to crazy wild dog and 2 one mile walks.
  • I worry that Oliver gets bored during the day.  This is usually cured by me jumping up and down like a crazy person until he joins me.  Then he gets tired and lays down.  Problem solved.
  • Oliver loves when Ben comes home.  LOVES IT!  He runs to the door full speed ahead so happy to see him.  It's adorable.

I love Mr Oliver. It looks like he just got a bath and nice and fluffy. I sure he misses biting on Bode and chasing him with his stick! Want to come play?
