Thanksgiving time

Thanksgiving has always been one of my very favorite holidays.  Not only do we get to cook and eat super yummy food, but we get to gather with those we love and reflect on our reasons to be thankful.  Food and thankfulness.  Perfect.

This year, what with adding a new little man to our family, we have so very much to be thankful for.  He has really given us new perspective and even more reason to count our very many blessings.  So as we move into a season where we celebrate Christ's birth and his ever giving sacrifice we squeeze each other tight and remind ourselves of all we have been given.

(Not pictured, the dog who went rouge and would rather play with Bode than pose for a picture)
We are sure thankful for Oliver!

One of Max's favorite treats is celery.  While I finished up my cooking and Ben worked to move Ed and Jody's planter boxes, Max had an appetizer of celery.

With no teeth to boot Max got to try all the Thanksgiving foods that don't require chewing.  Mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie.  This is a face that says, "Mom, you said this food was going to be good!!"  He wasn't convinced.

And of course, everyone needs a Thanksgiving day nap.  I am oh so grateful for those squishy cheeks and this family I get to call mine. Happy Thanksgiving!

Grandma Adventures

October was absolutley beautiful this year.  Incredible sunny weather and gorgeous leaves falling from the trees.  Fall is my very favorite time of year and this entire month has reminded me why.  Grandma came to visit for a few days and we got to enjoy some of the beauty with her.

Our first stop was to give Max his very first pumpkin patch experience.  I think he really enjoyed it.   I mean, after I explained to him that he could choose a baby pumpkin of his very own to take home with us, he really got into it and chose the perfect one.  Or maybe I chose it, I don't know - the details are fuzzy now. :)

In the fall the Salmon spawn.  We went to Lucia Falls where we have seen the amazing Salmon spawn up this very waterfall.  We hoped  to give my mom the same experience so she could tell stories of jumping salmon trying to make it to the top of the falls.  Unfortunately, there were so salmon and the was no spawning.  Fortunatley, it was a gorgeous day and we enjoyed the beauty all the same.

Fancy Pumpkins

Remember when we went pumpkin picking and I promised big plans for our pumpkin finds?
Well I don't know how BIG my plans really were.
But I wanted painted decorated pumpkins.
With fall colors that could stay on our porch through Thanksgiving.
Pumpkins that could stand up to buckets of rain.
Just in case the rain decided to sneak past our porch. On occasion it gets crazy.
And I didn't want my pumpkins to melt in the rain.

Fur and Boots {w2w}

It's fall, you have the boots, the air is turning crisp and the leaves are fallen.  So, now what?
Rock those boots girl!! Or, guy.  Even Ben has busted out his hotty hot Sorels that I am tempted to buy in every color.

Pumpkins

The other day Ben and I were driving down the road and passed a pumpkin farm.  Well, a pumpkin, corn maze, fall awesomeness farm.  At the same time we noticed the amazing amount of pumpkins they had in their fields for the picking.

Before I could say anything Ben said, "There is NO WAY  they grew all those pumpkins!  They had to have those brought in by trucks and just placed in that field."  Me, knowing everything, did you know I know everything?  I do, just ask me.  I said, "YES they DID!  They grew all of those for people to pick. They grew them, trust me."

It's the most wonderful time of the year...

I love FALL.
Do you know?
That's why we got married in the Fall.  Come hell or high water I was GOING to have fall leaves in our wedding pictures.

A little adventure is in our bones and we need to take advantage of every dry day we have left.

September

Hooray for SEPTEMBER!!

It's my favorite month all year!  And not because my favorite holiday, ahem - my birthday, is in this very amazing month.  No, because September means FALL and fall is the SEASON of all seasons.  I love when the air gets crisp and cool.  I love when the leaves begin to turn and don't even get me started on the gorgeous colors.  But do you know what I love the most.... FALL clothing!

It seems at the end of every August and even the first week or so of September I am completely over sandals and shorts and ready for the jackets and boots.  I dream of layers and scarves, blazers and long sleeves, leggings, boots and all the wonderful collar combinations.  Yes, I said collar... take note big collars are big fabulous statements in my book.  I get giddy just thinking about all the possibilities.

Now let's take a sneak peek into the fall fashion I can't stand to live without. {so dramatic, I know}

Fabulous coats.  It's true, I have a slight obsession with coats. {slight = huge}. I have been known to make the coat my "outfit" and with coats like these, how can you not?

Lace. Have you seen it all over?.  I love it.  So feminine and pretty, yet so comfortable and classy.

Boots.  Nothing can beat a good boot.  They go with everything - pants, leggings, skirts AND dresses.  What else could you possibly ask for?

And everything else... denim shirts, leggings, full a-line skirts, gorgeous blouses, textured tights, pumps and nothing is complete without the perfect dress.

I think I might need a 4th job.... Ah, I love September!

As a side note, I kind of cheated and wore boots and tights on the last day of August! {Gasp}  I couldn't help myself... it was grey and chilly most the day and I was itching to break them out.  It was perfect until I was playing in the grass with Oliver and got my dress wet and dirty.  I now know the meaning of 'play clothes' although I played in dresses as a little girl, so I guess some things will never change!

Happy September!
