Fancy Pumpkins

Remember when we went pumpkin picking and I promised big plans for our pumpkin finds?
Well I don't know how BIG my plans really were.
But I wanted painted decorated pumpkins.
With fall colors that could stay on our porch through Thanksgiving.
Pumpkins that could stand up to buckets of rain.
Just in case the rain decided to sneak past our porch. On occasion it gets crazy.
And I didn't want my pumpkins to melt in the rain.

I started with these beauties.

With a little painters tape, vinyl (which doesn't actually stick to pumpkins, btw), spray paint and clear acrylic spray we now have this:

The acrylic makes them shiny and protects them from the large amounts of rain that may try to attack my fancy new pumpkins.

By the way, if you think of painting any pumpkins red, don't do it on your back lawn.  Your husband won't be happy.  Apparently lawn stops growing in the winter and you will have to look at a red spot until Spring.  This is all good information to have upfront.

Ah, I just love fall!! Happy Halloween Eve!

Your pumpkins are adorable!

LOL Also don't spray paint your door in the garage and then toss the rinse water from all the chemicals out on the lawn. Had that happen last year without thinking and had an unsightly dead spot on the front lawn until we were able to put new seeds and fertilizer down to grow it back - yikes!

Also taught hubby to use paint tarps even spraying in the garage as a lot of pavement now has an odd door shaped blank spot surrounded by red film from the first adventure. Not sure how he plans on getting rid of that.
