Eyes

There is something about the way a baby looks at you.  That unbiased curiosity that forms in their eyes.  The way they track your movement watching, in wonder, what you'll do next.  Those eyes are special.  They aren't scared to make eye contact or even hold a gaze longer than most adults would feel comfortable. They don't know insecurity or social norms, they just stare. I love the wonder and curiosity I see in the big blue eyes of that little man of mine.

It is amazing to watch as he learns from everything he sees.  He now has a new little game he plays while he eats. He will stop, look up and wait for me to make eye contact with him.  Once I do he will laugh or let out a funny little Max noise.  I will laugh, I mean seriously, I can't help but laugh.  He smiles back and goes back to the food.  Sometimes we play this longer than we eat.  It's the best way I have found to spend my time.  He taught himself to make his mama laugh watching and learning with those smart, beautiful eyes.
