Those cute little soccer feet will be joining our family soon!
It's true, we will have a little human of our very own in April, 2013. It seems surreal and crazy. When Ben and I talk about it we shake our heads in disbelief that WE are going to have a BABY! Whose life is this anyway? I don't know, but I sure like it.
Now let me answer all your burning questions so that you can leave this post feeling a little more enlightened.
When are you due?
April 24, 2013. Perfect, right?
Are you guys excited?
Excited doesn't cut it. Our hearts can't hold enough excitement. See, my eyes are tearing up just thinking about it. Hormones? maybe. But really truly we couldn't be more thrilled to be blessed with a little babe.
Have you had an ultrasound?
Yes, a few. We had our first one at 6 weeks and we were able to hear the crazy fast heart beat. We have had 2 since then and every time that little babe looks more like a human. Have you ever seen a baby grow? It's completely amazing. I know more now than ever that God certainly created our bodies with divine design. I mean, with luck on your side, they can grow humans.
How far along are you?
I am 14 weeks. WEEKS! The dreaded pregnancy counting. Before I was with child whenever one of my friends would tell me they were X number of weeks I would think in my head.... "That means nothing to me. I don't count ANYTHING in weeks." Alas my time has come and somehow counting in weeks makes sense. For those who are holding strong, however, that means 3.5 months. Yikes.
Is it twins?
No. I asked the ultra sound lady twice and then I followed up with, "Are you positive". She said she was. I'll be honest, I was pretty sure we would have twins.
What does Ben think?
That life is about to get REALLY expensive.
Have you been sick?
Thank heavens no. I have felt completely normal. Aside from the extreme exhaustion that took my entire month of September. Don't let anyone fool you, growing a baby causes the rest of your body to shut down for a while. I am back though, and ready to party! Anytime before 10pm, then the party time is over.
When did you find out?
When I was 4 weeks, basically that is really when you are 2 weeks. It's hard to explain. Just know I have been holding this secret in for a long time.
Do you know what the gender is?
No, we won't find out for a couple more weeks. We are dying to know also. You will be one of the first we tell.
What do you guys hope it is?
A healthy baby. It sounds cliche' since everyone says that. But I can promise you one thing, with every fiber in their being - they mean it.
What do you think it is?
Both of our entire families think it's a boy. I think it's a girl. One million against one, we shall see.
Are your families excited?
Holy cow. Beyond excited. Both of our families are incredibly supportive and can't wait to meet this little babe. Plus, I am pretty sure my mom lets out a little squeal every time she thinks about it. She has been planning this day since I was a day old. My words, not hers.
Are you showing?
Not really. My clothes still fit, but I can definitely see a little belly forming. Which is crazy! I mostly just look like a ate a big turkey dinner, for weeks in a row. :) I'll show you pictures soon.
What do you think Oliver will do?
Hide in a corner because he doesn't like loud noises and babies cry, a lot. I don't know. His world is about to be rocked. Can someone tell him? He doesn't quite know what I mean when I say it. He has been extra cuddly with me lately and we are soaking up every bit of alone time with him. I imagine, after the initial shock and a good couple years of getting used to a mini human, that they will end up being the best of friends. That will happen.
Well my friends, that is all of the big news I have for now. Happy, happy day to you!

THRILLLLLLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so excited for you guys!! we love you!
HIP HIP HOOOOORRRAAAYYYYYYYYY!!! 1) CANNOT wait to find out the gender; 2) CANNOT wait to meet this little one!!! We are so so excited for you guys! Yes, it will rock Oli's world, but he'll get used to it. Some say you won't love your dog as much once Little One gets here; NOT TRUE!!! Yes I get irritated when they bark if the baby is sleeping, but that's about it. He will be a great big brother!
Come on 20 weeks, get here.... and then the next 20.... fly by!! We love you both and are so excited for the next Walunas to get here!
Love, Matt, Mimi, BK and B (and Peppe)
Congrats!
Glad to hear you seem to have dodged the morning sickness train. And yes, your comments about counting in weeks and honestly just hoping for a healthy child definitely were true in our case. Ben is also correct that life does get more expensive with a babe in tow, but it's totally worth it. We wouldn't dream of trading our little Mercy for any amount of money or sound mind as far as our finances are concerned - she's our world.
A tip for the canine in your family: a dear friend of mine said she would lay her newborns completely naked on a blanket or carpet covered in mayo or butter and let the dog lick it all off. From that moment on the baby was the DOG'S baby and they would endure anything without complaint because of it. She swears by it.
Oh, my Mamb!!! Saying I'm thrilled for you and Ben doesn't even begin to describe what I'm feeling!! Congratulations, my sweet friend. Congratulations. :o) :o) :o)
Yay!! I am so happy for you guys and for us guys! Our kids can be bff's!! I am glad you are feeling good too. Congrats!
I am sooooooooo happy for you!!! You're going to be the cutest pregnant girl ever!!
Yay!! Congratulations you guys and I LOVE the photo, so cute! Can't wait for your little one to get here :)
Congrats! Don't worry, the weeks go by quickly ...
And our dog figured it out on his own, maybe you won't even need to tell Oliver. Brok started sniffing my belly as soon as it poked out, and has been sleeping in the baby's room lately. Dogs know.
