At the end of August we had Max's 4 month doctor appointment. I LOVE taking Max to the doctor, sans shots of course. Its so much anticipation to see how much progress he has made each time. I suppose I could weigh and measure him myself, but it feels more accurate when someone else is doing it. I am a huge fan of our pediatrician. I am always surprised how long our appointments last because he spends a good amount of time talking with us and helping us make note of the milestones Max is accomplishing at this age. Like transferring, we didn't realize that transferring a toy between hands was a milestone, but it is and he does it with ease. From the horses mouth, this little boy is strong and smart. Mother's interpretation = perfect.
Max's 4 Month Stats:
Weight: 14.6 lbs - 50th percentile
Height: 24 3/4in - 40th percentile
Head Circumference: 17in - 70th percentile.
Lately Max has found himself quite the opinion. This isn't surprising actually. Ben says he got this from his mama, along with her temper and ability to throw an awesome fit. It's a real skill people.
Max loves:
- All things food, this boy can eat!
- Books, he will sit quietly as we read him story after story.
- Toys he can fit in his mouth. Everything goes in his mouth. The other day as I stood at the fridge holding him in my arms he tried to get the fridge handle in his mouth. Turns out by doing this you also bonk yourself in the head. Lesson learned.
- Kicking. This is no surprise given that he kicked me for 9 months. He kicks when he is happy, he kicks when he is mad. We hope he puts this kicking to good use someday!
- The exer-saucer. So much fun stimulation all in one place! If he is in our arms and he sees it on the ground he will grunt until we put him inside. He loves to play.
- People. He is a social boy. He will smile and laugh and anyone who talks to him.
- Being outside, there is so much to look at and discover.
- Hanging with mom and dad. He most definitely knows these two important people in his life and doesn't like to be without them for long.
- His binky. Lately it seems more like a toy or a game for him. He likes to take it out, play with it and put it back in. Sanitary.
- Songs. He LOVES being sung to. Sing to him, you will be his best friend. If you get lucky he will sing along.
- Morning. He is the happiest in the morning. He will talk and play with a huge smile on his face.
- Water. Pool, bath and shower this little man loves water! He even went underwater in the pool like a champ!
- Being carried. He would like to be in our arms 99% of the time. Baby carriers are genius for this. Also, I have learned to do a lot one handed.
- Being tickled. He will laugh and laugh when we tickle his chunky thighs or little feet. I don't know who has more fun, us or him?
- His feet. He can't get enough. He wants to play with them all day. The only thing he hasn't tried yet is getting them in his mouth. That would be the perfect day for him.
Max isn't the biggest fan of:
- His carseat. I don't know what it is, but he does not like to be put into his seat. He eventually warms up or falls asleep. If he is mad enough he will arch his back and push himself out. He does this if I set him in his swing before he is ready too. See what I mean about temper?
- Loud screaming. Sometimes Oliver and I play hide and seek. When he finds me I scream/laugh really loud. Turns out that horrid shriek scares the baby. Noted.
- Waking up. Sometimes we have to remind him to open his eyes. He gets angry when he forgets.
- Sun directly in his eyes. Do any of us like that?
- Restaurants. At first he acts like he is going to love it. Then he decides he would rather be held, standing up and that person had better be bouncing or moving in some way. We're a party!
